Implications of Andragogy for Instructional (learning) Design
Week 6
Applying Andragogy to instructional design means customizing learning experiences to suit the distinct needs and characteristics of adult learners. Instructional design aimed at adults should emphasize autonomy and self-directed learning, prioritizing the learner's specific requirements. Moreover, Andragogy in instructional design should incorporate content relevant to real-world applications, allowing for experiential and practical collaborative learning activities that honor learners' prior experiences. It should also offer flexibility and choice to cater to individual learner needs and intrinsic motivations. By following the principles of Andragogy, instructional designers can create effective learning environments that enhance student participation, commitment, and retention in the program and application of the presented knowledge among learners in their day-to-day activities upon completion.
